The surface preparation of Heavy lift vessel Oleg Strashnov, currently being built at the shipyard of IHC Merwede in Krimpen a/d IJssel is being done with Eurogrit aluminium silicate (coal slag grit) by Dutch blasting & painting contractors GSB and de Koning.

The vessel is being built for owner Seaway Heavy Lifting and has been specially designed for deep sea lift operations for the off-shore industry.

Surface preparation is the most important single factor when a surface is to be protected by a film-forming material e.g. paint. Good and proper surface preparation will prolong the life-time of the paint. Eurogrit is already supplying high quality blast cleaning abrasives for surface preparation since more than 50 years.

Eurogrit BV is proud to contribute to the construction of this innovative vessel that is expected to be launched in the course of August 2009.

In the meantime the vessel has been launched, but the blast cleaning and coating work continues and at this moment it is not yet clear when the job will be finished.
